Concept of URL
URL stands for Universal Resource Locator . It is an address of a document on the server has a unique name and thus, each document has a unique address.
The URL is made of four basic parts:
- Protocol
- Hostname
- Folder name
- File name

- The protocols: 1) http - hypertext transfer protocol 2) ftp- file transfer protocol.
- The Hostname: is the name of the server that holds HTML documents and relative files.
- Folder name: Indicates where folder in which files are locked
- Filename: Name of specific HTML documents and consist of two part viz. 1) Name 2) Extension.
Types of URLs:
There are two types of URLs categories:
- Absolute
- Relative
2) A relative URL points to files in the same folder or on the same server
